Iva Dell Wilson’s Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
This ice cream recipe came straight from Traci’s grandmother, Iva Dell Wilson. It is clean, delicious and a classic taste of American history. Enjoy.
Ingredients:
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 2 1/3 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- ¼ teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons vanilla
- 1 pint cream
- 1 3 oz. package instant vanilla pudding
- 4+ cups milk
- Ice cream salt
- Ice
How To Make:
Mix sugar, flour and salt in a large bowl. Add eggs and 2 cups milk.
Cook in a medium saucepan until it boils and gets custardy, about 10 min.
Mix 2 cups milk with the pudding mix. (You do not need to beat until firm). Add to the cooked mixture and cool.
Before freezing in ice cream maker, add cream, vanilla and enough milk to make 1 gallon.
Freeze the ice cream according to the directions on your ice cream maker.
Prep time: 5 min. Cook time: 45 min. Serves: 12.
