Traci and I just got back from Enid, Oklahoma. Traci’s grandmother, IvaDell Wilson, passed away this week after a brief illness. IvaDell was a great lady, and an adopted grandmother to me. The funeral was a celebration of her life–she had a fantastic one, and we will both miss her.

We have been spending a lot of time in Enid this summer, visiting Grandma and Traci’s parents. I am thankful we had the opportunity to see her as much as we did.

IvaDell took me in and accepted me as her other grandson from the start. She was the grandma I had not had in my life since both of mine passed away many years ago. As much as I loved her, that is a fraction of the love that the rest of IvaDell’s family had for her.

I understand that as we get older, the passing of relatives that have been fixtures in our lives is just a part of life. It does not make it easier, but it does help knowing that IvaDell had a very full life. The celebration of her life we had the last couple days proves that.
